In Scratchings of a Madwoman, Sauk Prairie artist Rhonda Nass introduces readers and viewers to two seemingly disparate concepts: pursuit/discovery of spiritual intimacy; and communicating through drawing. Her project began over 15 years ago with persistent mental nudgings to do a book defining specific words often associated with religion, in an attempt to demystify those words which have, at times, made others feel as if they were outsiders uncomfortably looking in. The book encourages the reader to recollect his/her own story that similarly defines each word, through both writing and art. To make this creative expression possible, the second half of Scratchings of a Madwoman is a step-by-step art technique guide on colored pencil drawing. The exhibit will feature both original drawings and printed pages from the published book! Opening Reception Friday, November 1 from 4 to 6pm Free and open to the public. Join us for refreshments and a chance to meet the artist! Show runs thru November 30, 2019.
