SUMMARY:Canadian Pacific Holiday Train - 2012
DESCRIPTION:The Holiday Train stops in Portage to raise cash and awareness for hunger relief efforts and includes a special appearance by Santa!  You are asked to bring nonperishable food items for the pantry. \n\nAll proceeds and donations collected at the stop will go to the local food pantries in Portage which benefit our area residents.  \n\n\n\nA brightly decorated train will be traveling across the U.S. in support of local food banks. The Holiday Train program allows employees\, customers and communities to come together to help people in need. \n\nEach year\, thousands of people gather along Canadian Pacific Railway's route to enjoy the arrival of a brightly decorated train and watch a live holiday concert.\n\n\n\nThe train is decked out in thousands of lights\, with wonderful colors.  Boxcars contain a stage with live entertainers who ride along on the train that put on an outdoor music concert for all of you.\n\n\n\nFood Drive Kicking Off Nov 19th - Dec 7th - Bring non-perishable food items to any of the following locations and help us collect food prior to the trains arrival.\n\nPolice Dept\n\nCity Hall\n\nLibrary\n\nChamber of Commerce\n\nHarris Bank\n\nJeff's Tire\n\nLocal Churches\n\n \n\nThe Library will be holding a "Food For Fines" drive from 11/19-12/1.  Instead of paying cash for your Library fines you can bring in non-perishable food items to cover the fine.   \n\n\n\nIn addition Pierce's Grocery Store will be preparing Food Pantry Bags that can be purchased at the store and then the Food Pantries will pick them up at the grocery store.  These donation bags vary in pricing.  \n\n\n\nThe Portage Rotary Club will be hosting a Free Brat Feed(while supplies last) prior to the trains arrival on Sunday Dec 9th.  People are again asked to bring the non-perishable food item as a donation for the brat feed.\n\n \n\nCulver's will be donating Hot Chocolate and the Library will be donating cookies for people to enjoy while we wait for the trains arrival.
