Luncheon Information
Shelley Drescher, who works with 28 schools districts as CESA 5 learning coordinator, will be presenting information to us on their apprenticeship program. Shelley, who has been with CESA 5 for the past 23 years, will relay how you and your business can get involved and benefit from having an apprentice at your location.
Wisconsin's Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program is a part of a statewide initiative. CESA 5 coordinates the Youth Apprenticeship program for 20 high schools. It is designed for high school students who want hands on learning in an occupational area at a work site along with classroom instruction.
Youth Apprenticeship (YA) integrates school-based and work-based learning to instruct students in employability and occupational skills defined by Wisconsin industries. Local programs provide training based on statewide youth apprenticeship curriculum guidelines, endorsed by business and industry. Students are instructed by qualified teachers and skilled worksite mentors. Students are simultaneously enrolled in academic classes to meet high school graduation requirements, in a youth apprenticeship related instruction class, and are employed by a participating employer under the supervision of a skilled mentor.
