Celebrate National Manufacturing Month!
A strong manufacturing industry is fundamental to Wisconsin’s prosperity. The manufacturing sector was responsible for more than $55 billion worth of economic output in 2014 alone.
The Portage Area Chamber of Commerce, Columbia County Economic Development and Portage High School are partnering together with our local manufacturing businesses to host on site Career Tours.
We want to let students know that there are multiples choices for careers in the manufacturing industry and it can be rewarding and well-paying.
According to WMC, "The average pay for a manufacturing worker in Wisconsin is $54,400 per year, $10,000 per year higher than the average pay for Wisconsin private-sector workers. In addition, 84 percent of manufacturing workers in Wisconsin receive health insurance benefits through their employer, compared to 77 percent of all workers."
Tours will be taking place at Rayovac, St Gobain, EK Machines, Flambeau and Anteco Pharma.
