The Portage Area Community Fund is excited to host the first Portage Area Distinguished Family Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 2 - 4 PM at the Portage Center for the Arts. Four families will be honored for their distinguished contributions to the Portage area over multiple generations. They include the families of Marion and W.J. "Dietz" Eulberg, Betty and Dr. Edward Harkins, Fran and Patrick Malone and Adele and Phil Walz. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet family members and hear stories of how these families focused their time and talents on our community over generations, helped build community spirit and improve the quality of life in the Portage Area. They are role models for making our community a great place to live, raise a family, create, learn, work and play. Our family friendly event will be emceed by former WPDR personality Susann Gamble and Douglas Steele with Magnum Broadcasting. Admission is free and any tax deductible donations are optional. PACF, established in 2016 is dedicated to enhancing the lives of all citizens in the Portage area through raising funds, to award grants, and develop partnerships to strengthen and enrich our community. Our vision is that Portage and the surrounding area will continue to build on its history by embracing the future through its thoughtful and giving citizens.Our endowment fund is a permanent asset that is invested to provide returns, which are used to support charitable causes. Our key grant interests include: civic and cultural enrichment, natural and historic preservation, parks and recreation, community development, youth and educational resources. The PACF is a component fund of the Madison Community Foundation, a tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) community trust. Volunteer Board members include Jeffrey A. Davis, Dennis R. Dorn, Sandy Gunderson, Steve Sobiek, Jesse Spankowski, William F. Tierney and Vicki Walz.
