Everyone is invited to attend the dedication and ribbon cutting of the new Dream Court at Collipp-Worden Park!!
Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, headquartered in Madison, WI, with a local branch here in Portage, has purchased a Basketball Court through Nancy “Lady Magic” Lieberman Charities and World Ventures Foundation, Inc., and will be donating the Dream Court to the City of Portage. The dedication ceremony will be held on June 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Collipp-Worden Park. The goal of Nancy “Lady Magic” Lieberman and the Dream Courts program is to provide children in our local communities with a safe area to play basketball, participate in free basketball clinics, and learn important lessons about teamwork and good sportsmanship. Nancy Lieberman will be on hand for the dedication and we would like to make this a community dedication for our children and all are invited. Lieberman is one of basketball’s all-time greats. She took home an Olympic silver medal at the age of 18, was a two-time national champion in college, led victorious teams in the WBL and WNBA, and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Since retiring, she has become a winning coach in the WNBA, an ESPN analyst, the first female head coach for the NBA’s Development League the Texas Legends, and most recently named assistant head coach for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings – making her the 2nd woman to ever coach in the NBA. Also coming later this summer, The Portage Boys Hoops Club, in partnership with the City of Portage, will be unveiling the new courts and hoops that will replace the basketball court system that currently exists at Collipp - Worden park. Stay tuned for updates throughout the summer!
