“The Grief Ministry volunteers of St. John’s invite the public to join them in hearing about an important community resource – a Support Group for those impacted by Suicide. Please join us on Thursday, 11/17 at 6:30 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church where Amy Cole will speak to us about the support group, and about the unique challenges of supporting people who are grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide.

Here is some information about Ms. Cole and the support group:
Amy is a licensed School Psychologist. She majored in psychology at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 and continued at UW-Whitewater to earn her Master’s degree in School Psychology in 2000. She has been a practicing School Psychologist since 2000 and continues this practice at Bartels Middle School and the Portage High School. At the schools she works with 8th through 12th graders, their families, staff, and administration.
In 2002, Amy lost her only sibling to suicide. She, herself, attended a grief support group and experienced the benefit during her grief. She is an active member of the Prevent Suicide Columbia County Coalition. It was there that a need for a suicide loss support group was determined. She began the Suicide Loss Support Group as the facilitator in October 2015.
