Registration fee $10 (includes free t-shirt). FREE suicide prevention training after the walk!
This family-friendly event features laps around the track, speakers, live music, remembrance projects and educational booths. After the Walk, there will be a free 90-minute suicide prevention training in QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer: three steps anyone can take to help save a life from suicide).
Prevent Suicide Columbia County invites community members to join in remembering loved ones lost to suicide and extending hope to those who are still suffering. Participants are invited to bring a photo of a loved one who died by suicide and remembrance activities include releasing balloons, posting shares, wearing honor wristbands, and reading aloud the names of those we have lost. Participants can choose the length of their walk on the accessible track, with themes offered for each lap (walk lap one for one you have lost a loved one to suicide, lap two for one who currently struggles, lap three for one who is grieving, etc.).
All proceeds from the Walk for Hope benefit Prevent Suicide Columbia County and its local suicide prevention activities, which include free QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention training, public service announcements, free gun locks, free suicide loss support group and more.
